If you create your blurbs in one of our satellites (e.g., climatography.org, or happycampers.io), your blurb will appear there AND in the big shmuuz site. But if you'd like, you can create blurbs directly in shmuuz. Join SHMUUZ.COM here. A platform will be assigned to you. For your blurbs, REQUIRED fields include the title, subtitle, description and big photo. Everything else is optional. Use only those that are relevant for you.
Short titles look best. Try to keep it under 30 characters. Do NOT end it with a period (and exclamation points tend to be overused recently). Here's one: 'Bob's finest dogs'
This is usually some identifier, like the name of your organization (e.g., UNDP Afghanistan), or a website (e.g., PHYS.ORG), or a publication (e.g., Mother Jones), or your location (e.g., Kingston JAMAICA, or Austin TEXAS).
Usually no more than one hundred (100) words. ACTUALLY FIFTY (50) LOOKS BEST. You lose 'em if it is too long.
How big is a photo?
Big is BIG. Your images should be at least 900px wide, even bigger if possible. Around 1800 px is ideal. Photos taken with a cell phone are much, much bigger than that. Send them intact, we resize them automatically.
When CREATING a tag, it is better to use plural rather than singular forms: e.g., a blurb with the tag DOGS will appear in search requests for DOG or for DOGS. Limit: six (6) tags. Length: three or more letters. A blurb for the World Wildlife Fund might be tagged: CONSERVATION, SPECIES, WORLD WILDLIFE FUND, WWF.
Please put the NAME OF SOMETHING here, NOT an address. If it’s at Rosie’s house, put “Rosie’s house”. Other examples are “Los Angeles Coliseum”, or “Ajax General Store”, or the name of a publication, like "Vanity Fair". Or it could be an event you're at: "Coachella Music Festival".
Address information should be included only if it is relevant. These variables are fed to a map app when the reader clicks on the globe icon: first line of the address, city, state, postal code, country.
address (if you want map icon)
1234 Sunrise Lane
city, state, postal, country
Self-explanatory. If you are in the United States or Canada, if you enter the zip or postal code first, the city and state or province will be auto-filled.
"+1" is the country code for the US and Canada. For Mexico it is "+52". Phone numbers should look something like this: +1-866-555-1212.
email (it's public …)
ONLY enter an email address here if you are OK with the public seeing it.
You can enter a date here as MM/DD/YYYY (e.g., 12/25/2018). For a one-day-only event, or for a news article, for instance, only a 'start' date is needed. Or you can leave the date blank if it is irrelevant.
If you enter an end date, we will display "start - end" like this: May 5, 2018 - May 8, 2018. Leave it blank if it is irrelevant (e.g., if an event is one day only).
You can enter time (and date) information here or leave it blank if it is irrelevant. This can be anything you'd like, e.g., "10:00AM - 2:00PM". For complex times, multiple lines are OK:
Mon - Fri 9AM - 6PM
Sat 9AM - 3PM
Youtube uses various URL formats, so please enter the entire youtube URL. Some examples: Here is the youtube URL for the World Wildlife Fund's homepage: https://www.youtube.com/user/wwfus.
